After many Pediatrician appointments we have finally gotten into see a specialist. Up until now we have been told by numerous doctors that "he had a rough start of course he is going to be behind a little". Being first time parents we didn't know any better, although looking back now I know allot of people knew something was wrong.
We went into the appointment not really knowing what to expect. The Doctor came in followed by a physical therapist. They started asking us allot of questions, most of which the answer was no, not really or not yet. The therapist was also having Konnor do numerous different tasks. The PT left the room and returned a little while later with Konnor's results.
Dr. Budden sat us down and gave us Konnor's diagnosis, Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy. I immediately burst into tears and to tell you the truth at that time I had no idea what CP was but I knew it wasn't good. Then she gave us Konnor's PT scores, Mentally he was at a 5 month level & Motor Skills were only at a 1 month level.
Since he wasn't even a year old yet she really couldn't give us an idea of what his quality of life would be.
That was almost 2 years ago now, Konnor amazes us everyday with even the littlest things he is able to do.
He loves being in his walk about, he gets around my rolling or army crawling but prefers to walk (with help of course but he doesn't care), and loves being around other children. He has also started talking allot more in the past month, and will receive his first power chair in April.
We are so proud of him!!
