Finally Home!!

  December 06, 2007

Sorry it has taken me so long to post, it has taken me a few days to get adjust and find the time....

Konnor woke up the morning we were getting ready to leave vomiting and had diarrhea again!!  The doctors gave him another shot to help with the nausea and some medicine for the diarrhea...  The flight home was only 10 hours vs. the 14 hour flight we had on the way there.  The diarrhea medicine didn't really kick in as we were hoping and Konnor ended up going through 3 pairs of pants on the flight to San Fran.  Only 1.5 hour flight back to  Portland , we were almost there and Konnor woke up from his nap vomiting again.  By the time we landed all three of us smelled like poop and vomit!!!  YUCK!!

We made it home just in time for a huge wind storm that lasted a couple days.  Konnor had a very hard time adjusting to the time change so we had a few days where we woke up very early... We are all back in our routines now and it almost seems like we were never gone and it was all a dream.  We miss all the wonderful staff and the amazing people that we met while we were there.

Thank you to all of you who gave us the support and donations we needed to make this trip possible.  We will be updating the site with Konnor's improvements.

Another First...

  November 28, 2007

Konnor was feeling much better yesterday and woke up in a wonderful mood. He did great in therapy, didn't take a nap and was making up for not feeling well the last few days. We went to the hotel for dinner with Keith, Stephanie, Karen and Jaysen. While delivering our drinks to the table the waitress got the tray a little to close to Konnor, he reached right up and dumped a hot cup of coffee all over himself and Daddy. Ken reached right over and dumped his ice water over Konnor to help cool him down. Luckily we had an extra change of cloths and were able to get him dry. We got back to the hospital and played until about 10pm then Konnor said he was ready for bed. I put him in his crib with the railing up about a foot and a half and started working on a project I am putting together for the doctors and nurses. Konnor started grabbing the side of the rail and pulling himself up to a sitting position, he was so proud of himself!! A few minutes later we heard him say "Daddy" and he had grabbed the rail with both hands and had pulled himself up. Before we could make it over to the crib he was standing straight up!! Then he toppled over the side and landing right on the top of his head!! The doctors came in and checked him out and he was okay, but it sure did scare all of us pretty badly. He has never pulled himself up like that!!

He slept very well and when he woke up this morning he didn't even have a bump on his head. We are now putting the railing all the way up, and are keeping a close eye on him since he is so unpredictable now.

We started packing today, so we will see you all shortly.

Last Injection!!!

  November 26, 2007

Konnor had a much better day yesterday.

Today he had his last stem cell injection, another spinal.... He started off the day in a pretty good mood but it didn't last long, about 10:30 he started vomiting again. They gave him a shot for the nausea that seemed to help. The injection went well and he was in a good mood for about 4 hours afterwards, then he started vomiting again. They gave him an extra IV and another shot, it seems to be helping because he has finally fallen asleep.

We will miss everyone here but are all ready to come home, only 4 more days!!

Sick day....

  November 24, 2007

Today was not a very good day for Konnor. He started off with having some diarrhea last night and woke up this morning vomiting. He didn't stop either all day so tonight they had to give him an IV. He seems to be sleeping well now so hopefully things will only start getting better from here.

We had planned a trip to Shanghi for the day tomorrow but now Konnor and I will stay here and Ken, Karen and Jaysen will go. Konnor was so looking forward to the train ride.

He has his last spinal on Monday then just finishing up with a few more days of therapy. Less than a week to go!!!

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We ended up going to Hooter's for their turkey dinner. There was a small group of us from the hospital that went, Karen, Jaysen, Keith and Stephanie.  We also brought Johnny with us for his first Thanksgiving dinner.  We had alot of fun and of course the girls just loved Konnor.
